Sustainability at Biohof Inntalblick
Last year, we completely renewed our heating system.
The heating fuel we use now consists exclusively of biomass (logs for the kitchen stove and tiled stove, as well as wood chips for the central heating), which comes directly from the local forest. The branches are left in the forest so that the forest as a whole can benefit from the nutrients they provide.
Until 50 years ago, our power supply consisted of a small municipal power station. Since then, our green electricity has been generated by hydropower and supplied by the largest energy company in Tyrol, TIWAG.
When it comes to lighting, we use LED products.
For more than 20 years, we have relied on solar collectors for our hot water.
As it is our goal to produce our energy and heat as close to nature as possible, our power supply now consists largely of our own photovoltaic system on the roof of our farm building. In this context, we have installed an e-charging station.
When purchasing household appliances, we have always opted for the highest energy efficiency class. With our farm garden, we create awareness for sustainable nutrition. When shopping, we choose local, seasonal produce. We prefer to buy organic products, as we ourselves have been using organic farming methods on our farm since ever.
We try to avoid waste wherever possible. Separating waste is second nature to us on the farm, and we particularly appreciate it when our guests help us by doing the same. Reuse instead of single use is part of the solution…
Our tap water is pure spring water, which originates at an altitude of 2000 meters, making it the finest drinking water…
When taking a shower, you might want to be mindful of the water you are using. By doing so, you will also help us to keep energy consumption and waste water within acceptable limits.
On our organic farm, we work in harmony with nature. Animal welfare is not just a buzzword for us, but something for which we have already received awards – we live and breathe it and it starts here on our meadows and fields. We water the balcony flowers and the cottage garden with rainwater.
